Myroslav Kovtun, home

Hi, I’m
Myroslav.

It started with a school dream of making video games. Design felt like the first step, so I learned it properly: graphic editors, design studies, then years of laying out magazines, newspapers and books, where every millimetre and every line break matters. Advertising taught me to say one thing clearly.

My first interface was for self-service bank terminals. Real people, often in a hurry, with nobody next to them to explain the screen. It worked, and it set the standard I still hold myself to: if someone needs help to use it, the design isn’t finished.

How I work

End users set the bar

A product succeeds or fails with the people who use it every day, not with the review that approved it. I design for them first, and work back to the business goal from there.

Every decision has a rationale

I map scenarios and edge cases before I argue for a direction. When I push back, it comes with evidence and stays calm and constructive.

Designed with engineering

I learn the technical constraints early and design within them, in an open two-way dialogue. What we agree on is what ships.

Still into systems. Just the fun kind.
